Galapagos was formed by Volcanos. The Island of Isabella had 3 of them, the last active volcano in the 20 teens. That isn't dirt the cactus is growing from, it's all lava rock. Razor sharp and treacherous. My thanks to a Retired General of the Ecuadorian AF and our guide Luis for taking me by the hand navigating the lava terrain.

Our guide, Luis, took pictures of us snorkeling amongst the tropical fish, white finned Sharks and these amazingly cool dudes, Sea Turtles.

Spent a half of a day at the Galapagos Breeding Center. The tortoises 'charging' towards their handlers who've fixed a super green and crunchy salad of Elephant Ears. We learned that they were nearly extinct until Ecuador acted to protect and breed them. These guys are in their 70's. Some of them stay at the center because they were rescued from lava streams, or for breeding purposes. When the baby tortoises are born, their soft shells make them vulnerable, so they stay at the center for 5 years, then are released into the wild. Incredible place. Thanks for watching what is the equivalent of Uncle Dick's Vacation Slideshow!!
