Yahoo Sports surveyed users about their latest list: Best and Worst Super Bowl Half Time Shows. Worst???? Do we even need to ask? It's the stunted 'wardrobe malfunction' between Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake that is still debated today. Why did she wear that thing if she didn't expect him to rip off her top? Who signed off on that performance? And why was JT invited back but not Janet? No clear answers to that, but the second worst was a magician named Elvis in 1989. I never saw that 'act' but it must've been a year that the SB ran out of talent funds. Then there was the Aerosmith team up with Britney Spears and N'Sync that culminated in a cringey performance of the beloved Aerosmith song 'Walk This Way' with the band step dancing along with the boy banders and the pop tart. Steven Tyler later recalled they were vilified for years about debasing 'Walk This Way', but he claims if 800 M people are gonna see it, why not? He of course has nothing to say about it now. Or about anything For awhile. The Best Super Bowl Half Time Show in that Yahoo Sports survey turned out to be Prince performing in the rain. Epic. I watch it again and again. And I kinda dug the Bruno, Beyonce, Coldplay Super Bowl too. The survey commenting that the Who looked tired and singing the lyric about "...I hope I die before I get old" seemed too on the nose.
