The MC 5, always the bridesmaid never the bride in the quest for recognition in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, are putting the pedal to the metal again with Wayne Kramer in the driver's seat and other original member drummer Dennis Thompson riding shotgun. On Wednesday, Kramer announced plans for the first MC5 material since 1972 coming out in October with Bob Ezrin of Alice Cooper and Floyd fame behind the board in the producer's capacity. Celebrating the rebellious roots of the MC 5, Wayne's enlisted rock-n-roll revolutionists like Tom Morello, William Duvall of Alice In Chains fame, and Detroit raised bassist and producer Don Was. But that isn't the whole enchilada. Kramer also will embark on a tour that begins here in Detroit at the El Club may 5th and traverses the medium sized rooms across the country stepping-stoning from Pittsburg's Thunderbird Cafe to the Soda Bar in San Diego in the month of May. An aggressive schedule for a Kramer/MC5 re-emergence project he's called "We Are All MC 5.
