Notoriously bad tempered but immortal Cream drummer Ginger Baker turns 80 today. His drumming defines rock n roll more succinctly than the other guys pounding the skins in his era. In Cream with Eric Clapton and Blind Faith with Steve Winwood, Baker scoffed that he was a Jazz drummer by trade, but couldn't make any money at it so instead became the thunder behind those two pivotal rock bands. Being a Ginger may or may not have contributed to his outright snarly personality, but local hero and Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith braves the angry ginger for a word about being a rock god.
