Some real awkwardness portrayed in this movie, the first for Jon Heder who had to have his naturally long, straight hair permed and wear coke-bottle glasses to complete the look of the title 'hero' character. Good story about it in @RollingStone this issue of the making of and all the fear that nobody would get it!
