A neighborhood on Detroit’s west side turned chaotic when a pet goat named “Smoke” escaped its enclosure, leading to a wild afternoon of unexpected street wandering. The animal hopped a fence and wandered through yards, at one point prompting a resident to leap onto a car roof while the goat approached the vehicle.
The goat’s owner, Robert Pizzimenti, received a city citation for owning an unpermitted wild animal, and said he hopes his urban farm animals will be appreciated for their community value. Meanwhile, neighbors watched in surprise as the goat’s solo tour highlighted the quirks of urban animal ownership and the importance of proper containment.
