The Tigers will retire former second baseman Lou Whitaker's number 1 on August 6th. Whitaker and shortstop Alan Trammell were the most prolific double play team in Detroit's history. Sweet Lou played his entire 19-year career with the Tigers beginning in 1977 and was a member of the 1984 World Series Championship team. Trammell was the last Tigers player to have his jersey number retired in August 2018.
