Do bands need to write entire albums now?

Tesla announced they were going to release 'a' song. Not an album just one song. I suppose with streaming that's all you need but they certainly will miss out on the vinyl craze that has fans of all ages scooping up albums. Not every song on an album is a hit and sometimes there's only one hit which leaves the rest of it a snoozer. Then there are the surprises. Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath talked about one of the band's biggest hits 'Paranoid' being written to fill 3 minutes left on the album. He said the song was written so fast Ozzy was reading the lyrics as he was singing them. Many songs I've heard on albums that never became hits but I knew every word. Entire albums became bigger than the one or two songs that the radio jumped on. So I can understand why Tesla wants to keep it at one song but for me I'll be putting "The Great Radio Controversy" on the turntable. https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/tesla-will-concentrate-on-releasing-one-new-song-at-a-time-not-a-full-length-album/
