Meatloaf had just written his autobiography "To Hell and Back" and came to Detroit to promote it with an interactive performance. Not only would he sing with his band but also take questions from the audience, at times even inviting them up on stage. I got to be the M.C. for this once in a lifetime event. Before the show began I was backstage when Meatloaf gathered his band around him to do their prayer huddle which they did before every performance. Meatloaf looked up to make sure everyone was there and saw me standing off to the side. He said "Anne come on over and join us, you're part of our group tonight" It was surreal standing next to Meatloaf surrounded by his band in prayer. It was a moment I'll never forget and will always appreciate Meatloaf including me in that moment. I also spent time with him during his book signing and he was just as generous with his fans. R.I.P. Meatloaf the world was a better place with you in it.
