The band has confirmed they’re bringing their fifth Dia De Los Deftones festival to San Diego. The festival will be at Petco Park on November 2, with Health, Gel, Idles, Sunny Day Real Estate, and more. They wrote in their post:
“Our 5th annual Dia De Los Deftones returns to San Diego on Nov 2, 2024. We’re really excited for this year’s lineup: IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate (performing Diary in its entirety), HEALTH, Paris Texas, Duster, Gel, and Qendresa will be joining us for this year’s celebration of music and culture.”

The band hinted at the event online earlier this month with a video showing a ‘5’ in the clouds and featuring live footage and their song ‘Genesis.’ Their post had the caption:
Deftones also has upcoming new music. In April 2024, Chino Moreno told KROQ that the band had finished most of their tenth studio album. The music is done, but they still need to add the vocals:
“We’ve just sort of been working on and off over the last year and a half. From when we started writing to where we’re sitting right now, we have a whole record recorded, all musically, and it’s pretty much my job now to finish up the vocals.”
Later in May, an Instagram photo from Velvet Hammer CEO David Benveniste showed Moreno and producer Nick Raskulinecz in the studio. The post hinted that exciting work was happening on the album.
Deftones have more outdoor concerts planned for this year. They’ll co-headline with System of a Down at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on August 17, with Mars Volta, Viagra Boys, and VOWWS opening.
