The former Bon Jovi guitarist made his first public appearance over the weekend since the Hulu docuseries, ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.’ He headlined the 11th Annual Unbridled Eve Kentucky Derby Gala at The Galt House Hotel. After his performance at the event, Sambora spoke to People about the series. He expressed that he felt it focused more on his former bandmate Jon Bon Jovi’s story than his own:
“It’s his project and it’s his perspective. I have a different perspective on all of that.”
In earlier interviews chatting about the documentary, Jon Bon Jovi mentioned he watched the episodes with Sambora. However, similar to Sambora’s recent comments, his representative earlier said Sambora didn’t like a few things in the movie. He explained Sambora sees things differently from how they are shown in the movie:
“He didn’t like the way he was being cast. He disagrees with how they framed his departure from the band and to him, the currency of happiness is more important than the currency of money.”
‘Thank You, Goodnight’ includes Sambora’s split from the band to focus on raising his daughter during his divorce from his ex. Before the premiere of the documentary, Jon explained that he and the guitarist watched some of it together:
“He came over and watched three parts of the docuseries at my house. There’s never animosity.”
