The Song Keith Richards Wishes He’d Written

Keith Richards has a song on his favorites list that makes him close his eyes and think, ‘I wish I had written it.’ In a recent tweet, the guitarist revealed this particular song and shared a short clip of himself playing guitar to it.

Richards took to his Twitter to answer a popular fan question, asking which song the guitarist wished he’d written. ‘Johnny B. Goode,’ Richards replied, laughing while sitting on his front porch. He also added a video of his performance of the hit track with Chuck Berry and Julian Lennon.

Apparently, Chuck Berry’s 1958 classic ‘Johnny B. Goode’ was among Keith’s favorites. He also had a chance to play the song with the rock and roll legend in 1986 at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis. The concert footage was later featured in the 1987 documentary film ‘Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll.’

The Rolling Stones was formed after childhood friends Keith Richards and Mick Jagger discovered they had similar music tastes; both loved the music of Muddy Waters, Little Richard, and of course, Chuck Berry. Later, they developed a sound that carried influences from those names and honored them for being their inspiration source.
