With the pandemic shutting fans out of Ford Field in 2020, the Lions have announced a new event for 2021 to welcome fans back. Detroit Lions Family Fest presented by UMCU will take place saturday August 7th. The event is free and open to the public but tickets do need to be reserved in advance. Gates will open at 10 am with fans being able to watch the team practice starting at 11:30 am. There will be activities and fun for the entire family including tailgating along Brush Street and a zipline. There will also be appearances by former players, Lions mascot Roary, the Lions cheerleaders, live music, face painting, balloon artists and team store sale with proceeds benefitting Lions charities.
