The final regular season meeting of the season between the Red Wings and the Avalanche at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings got their revenge on Claude Lemieux and the Avalanche after the incident in Game 6 of the 1996 Western Conference Finals in which Lemieux sent Kris Draper into the boards and out of the game. Darren McCarty called Claude Lemieux 'gutless'. Steve Yzerman said 'something needed to be done' Dino Ciccarelli said " I can't believe I shook this guy's hand after the game. That pisses me off right now'. The Red Wings took care of business on March 26, 1997. The rest is history.
