Earlier this year, before the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, Sammy Hagar called his former bandmate Eddie Van Halen because he'd heard he wasn't doing too well.
"When I called him, after years of not speaking, back in February, I think, or January, whatever it was, before Covid-19, says Sammy, "Eddie said, 'What took you so long?'"
Sammy went on to say, "that put the biggest smile on my face."
The two hadn't spoken to each other in years and agreed to keep their convo private because they didn't want people speculating about a reunion (which wasn't going to happen) or knowing how sick Eddie was at the time.
