Quiet Riot Drummer Frankie Banali Diagnosed With Stage Four Cancer

5th Annual Rock Godz Hall Of Fame Awards - Arrivals

Longtime Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

In a message shared on social media early Monday morning (October 21), the band member revealed he’s been fighting the disease since this past spring, but assured fans he is “on the mend” and expects to continue touring with the group as usual, proceeding with the Whisky A Go Go event in West Hollywood on October 26.

"I just want to let all of my friends and fans know what's going on with me and why I have unfortunately missed some appearances this year. I just want to let all of my friends and fans know what's going on with me and why I have unfortunately missed some appearances this year,” the 67-year-old writes in a statement via Mitch Lafon's Facebook page. “Since April 17th, I have been battling stage four pancreatic cancer.”

"The original prognosis was very scary,” he continued. “I had quite a battle on my hands and it took a lot, but I am thankful to say that after several rounds of chemo and other treatments, I am on the mend. The road ahead is not going to be easy but cancer has met its match and I plan to continue fighting.”

As Quiet Riot fans are aware, Danzig’s Johnny Kelly had filed in for Banali over the past year for a number of the band’s performances, which was unlike Banali, who hardly ever sat out a show. "I wish I could have been with you all at every Quiet Riot performance as this is the first time in 38 years I have ever missed a gig," he continued. "Please know that if I had been able to fly on a plane and play a show nothing else would have stopped me. I am feeling much better and stronger now.”
