Batch Of Local Whitmer-Inspired Beer 'Big Gretch' Sells Out In 10 Minutes

The Gov. Gretchen Whitmer-inspired beers released by a Michigan brewery sold out in less than 10 minutes.

Rake Beer Project, offering “Progressive Farmhouse Ales in Muskegon,” opened pre-sale for the “Big Gretch” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (December 1).

The “Big Gretch,” which initially released earlier this year and is back for another round, is a “Petite Dry Hopped Sour Saison with Mango,” according to the Rake Beer Project. “A new Stay Home order means that Big Gretch is BACK! We switched it up this time and came up with a supremely drinkable, refreshing Petite Dry Hopped Sour Saison Conditioned on Mango.”

The label illustration shows Whitmer wearing Cartier shades with a Michigan-shaped chain bearing the 231 area code.

“It’s fun, it’s goofy, and it’s a great beer,” Rake Beer Project wrote in an Instagram post.

Its next post proved that.

The beer sold out in less than 10 minutes.

“And just like that, She’s gone...This is the largest single batch of beer that we have ever produced, and the most cases that we have ever released at once, all gone in under just 10 minutes,” Rake Beer Project announced. “We cannot express what your support means during these wild times. Don’t forget to mask up, stay safe, and love one another!”
