Police in Provo, Utah carried out a major raid on a rural property on November 29, 2025, after investigating an alleged cockfighting ring. During the operation officers found a large fighting ring, 363 live roosters, and 56 dead birds stored in garbage bins, evidence that the property was being used for illegal animal fighting. In total, 17 people were arrested in the sweep, and many of those taken into custody face charges related to participating in the fighting operation.
Authorities also flagged animal cruelty in several of the arrests, with at least seven individuals suspected of aggravated cruelty to animals. Additional charges for some included failing to comply with police commands and, in one case, possession of a controlled substance. The investigation remains active as officers work to gather evidence and determine the full scope of the operation.
