What The World Needs Now Is More SRV

Found this from Yahoo News, for once something that doesn't make me feel terrible or outraged. Nothing more soothing than blues performed by the epic and for me, at least, unforgettable Stevie Ray Vaughn. SRV made two appearances on The David Letterman Show in the 90's which coincided with him bursting onto rock n roll radio. I was working in Columbus at W:LVQ trying to make sense out of Flock Of Seagulls and Falco when David Bowie's China Girl came out. Bowie always had an ear for guitar genius from Mick Ronson to Carlos Alomar, Earl Slick and this new guy, "..Who the hell is he???" I thought. Stevie would later clash with Bowie over money and his band Double Trouble, doing the unthinkable, breaking up with Bowie mid tour to do his own thing. Turned out it was the best thing that could've happened to radio and music at that time. Stevie fused the blues with rock n roll and we all suddenly realized what we'd been missing. I fell in love of course with his music first and the look second. When I got a radio station jacket, instead of having my name embroidered, I had them put SRV there instead. So glad Letterman gave these videos air again. Watch them and go down a Stevie Ray rabbit hole. Good therapy.
