That Time David Bowie Hooked Up With Tina Turner

Back in the mid 80s, both David Bowie and Tina Turner had massive pop hits. Bowie with 'Let's Dance' (which by the way featured a young Stevie Ray Vaughan) and Turner with her 'Private Dancer' album. After meeting briefly at a party which was attended by none other than Keith Richards and others in 1983, the two hit it off immediately. Bowie, like many, admired Turner for many years going back to her days performing with her former husband Ike Turner. The two would reconnect a few years later when both were at the top of the pop charts at arguably the peak of their professional careers. According to a 2020 interview with The Sun, her assistant Eddy Hampton Armani relayed a story that showed Bowie's admiration was more than just about the music. Bowie was to perform with Turner in 1985 in England. After sound check the two went back to the hotel, had sushi and returned to Turner's room. Armani goes on to say that Bowie came of out the hotel bathroom naked and wearing nothing but Turner's wig singing 'Rolling On A River'. Apparently that was just the beginning of their wild night. He goes on to say the next night on-stage at the show, Bowie seemed to whisper something to Turner. She laughed. Years later Turner revealed to Armani that Bowie said to Turner, 'My c**k is still sore'.

Check out footage of that show with both doing Bowie's 'Let's Dance' and a classic interview on the Late Show With David Letterman' where she talks about Bowie and Mick Jagger.
